1. The service

Stirpia lets pet owners and breeders record animal profiles, build pedigree/family trees, and (for breeders) search for breeding matches. Some features are free; breeding-match search and breeder verification are partly or fully paid.

2. Accuracy of pedigree data

Pedigree, health, and breeding data is entered by users. We do not independently verify animal pedigree, health test results, or bloodline claims — the parent-link confirmation system (see below) is a trust mechanism between users, not a guarantee of accuracy. Coefficient-of-inbreeding (COI) figures are calculated from the data on file and are only as accurate as that data; they are informational and not a substitute for professional breeding advice or veterinary genetic testing.

3. Parent-link claims

Linking another user's animal as a parent creates a claim that owner can confirm or deny within two weeks; unresolved claims are automatically accepted after that period. Users are responsible for reviewing claims made against animals they own in a timely manner.

4. Breeder verification

Breeder verification checks that submitted website, email, and contact details are consistent and reviewed by our team. It does not certify the breeder's practices, animal welfare standards, or the accuracy of their listings — it only confirms identity/contact information. The verification fee (currently €10) is charged on submission and is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the review.

5. Payments

• Breeding-match search is billed per search; breeders get 3 free searches per year, after which each search is charged. Bulk search packs may also be offered.
• The price shown is always the amount you pay. VAT is included in that price for private individuals and Finnish-registered businesses; for other EU businesses with a valid VAT ID it is excluded (reverse charge) — but the amount billed is the displayed price either way.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

6. Ownership transfer

Transferring an animal record to another user's account requires confirmation from the receiving party. Until confirmed, the current owner retains the record.

7. Content and conduct

You're responsible for the accuracy of information and images you upload. Prohibited: false animal or breeder listings, uploading images you don't have rights to, harassment of other users, and knowingly submitting false parent-link or ownership claims.

8. Reporting and moderation

Users can report profiles or listings believed to be inaccurate, fraudulent, or abusive. We review reports and may remove content, request corrections, merge duplicate records, or suspend accounts at our discretion.

9. Liability

The service is provided "as is." We're not liable for breeding decisions made based on information in the service, including COI figures, health records, or breeder verification status.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Monitoimitalo ZXY Oy's total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Stirpia — whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise — is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) fifty euros (€50). In no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption. We are not responsible for the actions or content of other users, nor for the performance of third-party services such as payment processors. Stirpia may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or technical reasons; we are not liable for temporary interruptions except where caused by our intent or gross negligence. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable (including Finnish and EU consumer-protection) law.

10. Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated in advance where reasonably possible.
